B,

Yea, but you can't say that or risk a lighting bolt coming down from the sky and striking your ass. Jimi is up there dood.

But, it's true. SRV played Jimi cleaner than Jimi. But you know, Jimi's thing was about just going for it. Dood was amazing. Still waiting for a definitive bio on Jimi, as so far the ones I've read are a bit lacking.

Cool that you got to see SRV many times in a small club. He is one of those greats that I never got a chance to see. It just never worked out, unfortunately. I remember exactly when I learned he died. He had a lot of music left in him, as I think he was just getting started.

SRV could play Jimi BETTER than Jimi! SRV played Jimi with no mistakes

I beg to differ. The solos that go from 1:55 to 2:28 and from 3:37 to the end of Hendrix's Voodoo Child (Slight Return) have some effects that I don't believe SRV was ever able to duplicate. In every version of that solo that I've heard from SRV he glossed over the most amazing parts. I've never heard anyone do it the way Jimi did in his studio version. Dunno if Hendrix himself was able to duplicate his studio version live, either.

Wish I'd been able to see SRV live. I'm envious.
