See, that is what you conservatives do constantly because you cannot defend your conservative behavior. You slight the truth to defend your indefensible position. Shame on you. Yes, the vote was right down liberal versus conservative lines. Northern Republican liberals (now extinct) voted with other liberal and moderate dems. But the democratic party has historically (for the last 100 years)been the party where the liberals live and the Republcian party where the conservatives live. And during Lincolns's time, the Republican party was the liberal party. It changed. You right wingers always try to claim Lincoln to. I don't understand why you don't just embrace the truth?
