You are correct, "the contract did accomplish its promises", electing Republicans.

My recollection of history was wrong. Naively, I remembered a promise to actually accomplish the contract items. I was more naive in those days.

In reality, Newt, the typical legislator, included a phrase in the contract that he could use to claim success when the efforts needed for successful implementation of the items in the contract were never made.

In some ways America gets the government she deserves. Taxpayers make requests instead of demands. There are few penalties on legislators who ignore their oaths. In fact, most who do are rewarded by the corporate welfare beneficiaries.
