I have an interesting anecdote too....

I have been meeting with investors lately and one of them recently backed a battery company. His company didn't get any of the stimulus money and subsequently this guy actually got an audience with Obama's people. He asked "WTF, we had the best technology and you picked us to be a loser". Obama's guy said "hey, we did our best, we knew that we would make some wrong decisions, but we went with what we thought would make the most jobs the fastest".

The investor guy said that Obama and his people were desperate and panicked at the time and were just doing something, anything that might work. In other words, the shotgun approach.

I've actually met a couple of people who are quite bitter because they were "picked to be losers" in Obama's cash grab.

An unintended consequence of Obama's stimulus plan is that the employees of the companies he picked as winners and ended up as losers (such as solyndra) are not going to be loyal to him and the company and people who he picked as losers are going to be angry with him.

(I had to turn the TV off when he was talking about why the republicans don't want to put teachers back in the classrooms)
