Except, as it turns out, it isn't.

I worked through this for some other nitwit like yourself last night.

If one assumes two kids aged 17+, a household income of $50,000, and that employees pay 7.65% SS and effectively lose the other 7.65% in real wages (which economically they do), then there is your $10,000. It took me less than 30 seconds to figure out where Cain was coming from.

Alternatively, if one presumes either of the spouses earns $50K in Self-employment income, it comes out just short of $10K, somewhere over 9K.

Cain was essentially correct. Certainly more correct than the story criticizing him.
