Richard, the first thing JS should do is explain to its owners,
namely us, why this buyout is in our best interests and not his. We stand on the threshhold of technological changes that will change the way we live for the next 40 years and this company could have played
a significant part in it, had its management team had a savvy enough financial advisor to make it all come together. Most of us understood
the risks when we first invested here. The major one being that amtx
was too small to implement a major deployment without assistance
from some bigger partners. Assistance meant just that, not a
SELLOUT. Here we are on the verge of making major news with GTE,
HKT, and god knows what else, and steenburgen shows us the door
just when the stakes are getting higher.

This really sucks. I hope Soros' group feels the same.

[Buyout chat]

<<<Texas Instruments, probably better than anyone including Amati, knows what the market for this DMT chip is. They know what the profits for the software development/upgrades will be. The fact that they have bought Amati, despite already essentially owning the chip, is a ringing endorsement of those projected profits.>>>

Richard --

You've said it more succinctly than anyone yet. TI no doubt took a look at their original Amati partnership and said, "Yikes! We gave all that away???? By George, if we buy the whole gol'dern company at these prices, we'll make it up in 48 hours. . ." Or something along those lines.

<<<Will there be a stock holders' meeting before this is over? We should have a large Amati New Year's party for the thread, as it passes on in '98. I think RC and JS should spring for it, since you can't buy this type of marketing ;^) !>>>

I honestly don't know. If enough shares are tendered I'd imagine there won't be any need for one. But, hey, I'm game --- if they're hosting. <GGG>

Cheers!

Pat
