What's so "pro-science" about building a $2 billion wind farm that might replace a single 500MW fossil-fuel power plant? You would have to tax CO2 emissions from the latter at astronomical levels in order to make that wind farm economically viable.

All I see is GE taking advantage of federal subsidies so that they can win this massive "green energy" project. Low risk and lots of benefits to them, mostly in terms of PR and maybe some experience in wind energy.

"Green energy" is just becoming a political buzzword. It makes you immune from the critics, except those oh-so-anti-science conservatives who just can't seem to shut up.
