Al, > You must have searched long and hard for a negative portrayal...

WTF? All I did was use Google. It's not even a "negative portrayal":

windenergyplanning.com

> I happen to think that this is an excellent example of government and private sector working together. Is it risk free? No...but the loan guarantees makes it possible for this facility to be financed by private money and for the local Oregon community to come together on a strategic investment that is positive for the future of the area and the country.

Agreed, but the problem is when you use buzzwords like "green" to place yourself above criticism.

In light of the Solyndra scandal (and I'm starting to call it a scandal not just because the GOP has been using that word from day one, but because Solyndra execs and the White House are now being much less than forthcoming with the truth), it's important to start rebuilding trust in government green energy projects.

Concerns about cronyism and government pork are valid ones. Gotta prove to the skeptics that the money we're spending is worth it and isn't just being used as a political slush fund.

Pickens is a great starting point for defending the merit of wind power projects like this.
