I remember looking at subalpine fir trees from my sleeping bag on a high ridge in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness area years ago. I was awestruck at their design, which could only come from God and the wonderful mathematics of His Creation. (No, I do not want to start a discussion about creationism, which only leads to senseless arguing.)

Most true fir trees (noble fir, grand fir, and so forth) are perfect representations of the Fibonacci sequence, which thanks to you I now know about.

It's amazing they did not teach us about that in forestry school.
