Perhaps the respect has not much to do with the gun, the gold, the melanin, the uniform, the backup, and all those do is get attention when she presents herself and act as support when respect is not relevant, which is not all that often. <Perhaps, as a strong black woman, yes, with a gun, yes, wearing gold jewelry, she gets respect.> None of those are related to respect [in the meaning of respect that I understand].

It may be... but you quoted her gun line... I found that telling of a certain personality type (hers I mean).. maybe she gets respect despite the gun.. but again I come back to your quote and I figure she elicits fear not respect.. they are oft confused eh ? but very different...
