I've been looking at WPRT. The Veoila trucks that pick up our garbage are NG powered. They are not using WPRT, but it got me started looking around. Fort Myers has been using these trucks for a year now.

Nov. 16 -- Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc. introduced a new fleet of compressed natural gas powered trucks in its Fort Myers, Fla., service area Nov. 16. The new fleet of 32 CNG-powered refuse trucks -- built by Autocar, with McNeilus Companies Inc. adding the body to the truck -- started serving residential and commercial customers across Lee County, Fla., in October.

Veolia also invested in a new CNG fueling station at its Fort Myers location.

"A CNG-powered fleet is a win-win for Veolia and for Lee County," said Jim Long, CEO of Veolia ES Solid Waste. "As a domestic alternative energy solution, CNG is better for the environment and more efficient to operate than traditional diesel, so our customers can feel good knowing that their waste service provider is part of the environmental solution."

CNG trucks produce less pollution than traditional diesel trucks and are approximately 15% quieter, the company said.

Veolia called CNG technology "a key part" of the company´s long-term sustainability strategy. The company plans to expand its CNG fleet into other markets in early 2011.
