Joan:
You are right in comparing this Dow to that of 1968-9. I remember vividly because I bought into the market for the first time at the precise top then. The next few months were very discouraging. I don't know all the figures, but the GO-GO 60's market had some eerie similarities to the present one -- I mean "new era" sentiment, young and agressive money managers, etc. An unscientific observation perhaps, but combined with today's ridiculous overvaluation, it makes me feel on more solid ground, at least from a philosophical standpoint, in the bear camp. But I sure have lost some money trying to play the short side. So much for reason and history.

Jack
