If I were General Barry McCaffrey and/or General Bob Scales, I would have blasted Rep Cuellar and asked him how much the Fed Govt paid for “Fast and Furious” and where was the Congressional oversight that could have prevented it?

Two retired Generals – one is my good friend General Bob Scales – were hired to review the Texas / Mexico border. Their report concluded that Texas faces a ‘lethal, elusive, creative, ruthless, well armed and superbly financed army [the drug cartel] who is trying to learn and adapt at a faster pace than its American enemy…’

Two Democratic Members of Congress from Texas disagreed with the conclusion of the two generals about south Texas, and went from disagreeing with the two Generals to ratcheting it up and accusing at least Gen McCaffrey of being money motivated — or another way to say it, being for sale. Below is lifted from a story about the hearing on Friday:

“….[Congresman] Cuellar also questioned how much McCaffrey was paid to compile the report, which he stated was filled with anecdotal informa-tion. Cuellar suggested McCaffrey was paid $80,000 with taxpayer money to author the report.

McCaffrey took offense. “Are you suggesting that this report had political or monetary motivation? If you are, sir, that is a shame. My dedication to the country is based on 30 years of service,” he said…..”

If I were General McCaffrey or General Robert Scales, and after serving my country for years with great distinction as each of these two Generals have, I would be furious with the insinuation by Congressman Cuellar. I would blasted him back – including asking him how much the Federal Government (a Democratic Administration) paid for Fast and Furious which not only was dangerous and absurd, but one of the guns from Fast and Furious was found next to a dead US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

I suspect this Congressman’s Committee is also the Committee that should have been providing oversight on Justice and the ATF and really dropped the ball and failed the American people (and Agent Terry and his family.)

RedinDenver, Fiscal conservative, animal lover, political/criminal justice system buff 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand I can hardly believe what's going on in this country these past couple of years..... and it just seems as though it's one outrage after another: the passage of ObamaCare when clearly the majority of Americans didn't want it; the continual playing of the race card on anyone who opposes Obama's policies, the Fast & Furious scandal, The Solyndra (and other 'green' industry) loans, the screwing of the taxpayers during the restructuring of the Solyndra loan, etc. etc. etc. I won't go on, as there are really far too many things to list.

And this -- Democrats evidently don't care WHO they slander in their attempts to protect their chosen leader and his administration.

Just Another Grunt 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand Gen McCaffrey is the real-deal when it comes to being a warrior and a hero. He lost half of his left forearm in the fight that earned him a Distinguished Service Cross in Vietnam. I met then BG McCaffery when he was Deputy Commandant of the Infantry School and I was a 2LT. The lessons on leadership I learned from his couple of briefings to our classes were ones that carried me through Ranger School and remained useful through out my career. A man of faith, he was always heading to the sound of the guns, even as a Division Commander (2 Star General ) in Desert Storm. He's the kind of man America needs more of. I would stake my life on his integrity... I doubt many would say that for either of the two Congressmen -- and really mean it.

Peter G 3 comments collapsed Collapse Expand So how much money is the Congressmen receiving for NOT protecting the Border?

Campaign contributions, a salary of about $174,000's.

I would call the Politician dirty before I started at someone who has been on the battlefield prepared to lose his life.
