The FED sets interest rates. I don't really consider the FED government - it's a private entity that works for the bankers. Government's role ends once a FED chairman is selected. It's only "government" in a corporatist, fascist sense.

I totally agree that, if there's any one man at the root of our problems, it's Alan Greenspan.

Seems to me Greenspan was one of the main interviners. Not to mention the repeal of glass stegal. Who signed that? Who gave Fannie the go ahead to give loans they knew would never be paid back?
