I only worked for the NYC Board for 7 years and rolled that money into my 401K. Actually, I wrote Mayor Dinkins and Giuliani letters asking them permission not to contribute, that I wanted nothing to do with their cheap pension plan. But I had no choice. Actually, I was quite popular with the students (and still am privately) and succeeded in getting many of them to question fascist government practices.
