Your interpretation (paraphrasing) is suspect as you have a truly bent perspective. However, the reason the entire recount wasn't done was due to Gore and his attorneys selecting only counties that might benefit him for a recount. You post trash and you expect Kenneth to "chime in"? Do you know if Kenneth saw the program? Very few people watch that boring show. I glance at Bloomberg during the Charlie Rose Show for a glimpse at futures and commodity movements at the corner of the screen.

He made the statement, paraphrasing, the Courts ruling on the vote count issue in Florida during between Bush and Gore was a possible black mark on the Court since we never know the true outcome of the vote count. Personally, I was surprised to hear him make such a statement." No I usually don't watch the Charley Rose show. I did hear an interesting interview he had with Tom Brokaw after the 2008 election. Here is part of what was said: ROSE: I don't know what Barack Obama's worldview is. BROKAW: No, I don't either. ROSE: I don't know how he really sees where China is. BROKAW: We don't know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy. ROSE: I don't really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him? BROKAW: You know that's an interesting question. ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches, two of them. BROKAW: I don't know what books he's read. ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama? BROKAW: There's a lot about him we don't know. As to Stephen's comment "since we never know the true outcome of the vote count." I don't think there was anything anyone could have done to achieve that. There were over 6 million votes cast in the state of Florida. In the end Bush led by less than 500 votes. One per cent of 6 million is 60,000 so we are talking about a small fraction of one per cent. This was well within the margin of counting error. You could do a complete recount ten times and get ten different answers. Maybe Bush wins 5 and Gore wins five. What do you do? My contention has always been that the vote count was inconclusive and there was nothing anyone could do to change that. Therefore the process calls for the states general assembly to select the electors. Bush would have still won since the Republicans controlled the assembly.
