"Apple was well within its channel inventory goals at the end of the quarter, and, given its 4 million iPhone 4S units over last weekend has probably sold well over 6 million iPhones so far in October. "

If you allow me to nitpick, Cook said they had sold half their Sept 24 channel inventory in iPhones as of Oct 17 which puts the quarter-to-date sell through at nearly 7 million, but also extrapolates the beginning-of-the-quarter channel inventory to 7 weeks (which is more than their goal). Personally, I don't have a problem with it, because even if they are the outgoing model, the units will eventually sell with the same margins as the current iPhone 4 8GB.

17.1mil with 4-6 weeks of inventory of 5.75mil. That means 1.15m/week at the mid point or 164K/day *90 = 14.8mil for the Quarter... compare that with the 55mil activations for Android and you can see Apple's market share is IMPLODING....
