Here is the news story that moved DEPO today. newsalert.com I was wondering what caused the price action today. I just figured it out (as posted above). During the day, I thought the stock was behaving like somebody put out a new "strong buy" and then a selloff followed. Turns out it was just some patent news. THC, you should feel good about executing your buy at such an excellent price in light of the good news released before the market open today. It is tough to buy into good news. In emergenies I tend to favor index put options. In a longer, bearish market, the Rydex Ursa mutual fund. In a rocky market I am intrigued by two vehicles: some money managers in Chicago called Cooper Linse, who time the market and are out of the market about 70% of the time (they combine seasonality with a timing model), and also a mutual fund, COAGX. The latter mutual fund looks for companies that are about to undergo major changes. If the changes are expected to be good, they buy the stock. If changes are likely to be bad, they sell short. They are about 35% short and 65% long by design. They won't publicize their shorts, so I see them as a class operation. They return about 20% per year. But, Marty Zweig is still moderately bullish. He shepherded me through the crash of '87 (he had us in put options then). He wrote an awesome ten page article in Barrons online a couple weeks ago about why he is bullish. So, that is good enough for me. I will save all the tools mentioned above for a rainy day, or rainy season. Welcome to DEPO owner's club. Only 20 more shopping days until ODAC Tom D
