I had a used Nissan (Datsun 510).. about 500k kilcs :O)

I have two vehicles now are about the same at 172K klics.. so far both in great shape.. One 2002 one 2006 (the trailer hauler) ... likely one more small one in spring... running into scheduling troubles with three drivers and two vehicles..

I'm at 9 years / 85K miles That's about where I bought the recent car for around town... Bought one new car only in my life.. May splurge when 12 year old can drive and get myself a nice used sporty or luxury job.. I really count on reliability ... rest is not so important...

You seem to go a lot to the wilderness in Alaska. How safe is to travel in this 85K miles in the wilderness?

Or it is urban use only?

I've got a 1999 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer I can't bear to give up. It has 77,000 miles on it and the leather still gives off that lovely aroma....a little bit. :) But, the seriously the interior is like brand new. Nice thing in Montana is you get permanent registration when the car hits 10.

All the new SUV's are too small unless I go bigger to the Expedition which I do not want to do. (My explorer gets 20.6 mpg.) I gotta carry my dog crate and I gotta have four wheel drive.
