Forget car culture, comment on agri culture. Unless you say food is so last century too :-)

Yes cars for basic transportation are fine... self driving for commuters would likely be good also.. remove all the crappy drivers :O) They will be required as long as governments miss the boat on public transit.. Here public transit for a busy life is beyond dismal...

And no public transit will ever take me to places like the top of Beartooth pass.. Batoche, L'anse Aux Meadows ... , the woods around my home, a zip line ? , walk the longest suspension bridge in NA ? ... a cyber visit is always just going to be just second rate at best and even that is rare... we discussed this before.. google is amazing for facts (and falsehoods :O) and for finding places to go... but seeing and touching a 400 year old tree in a rain forest or physically standing on an old Roman road and 'being there' will never be the same for me as the poor solution of seeing it on google.. unless we come to the Matrix scenario where nothing is real anyway :O)

All the folks here with fancy new cars here are a lot younger than me BTW... I'm still just too practical :O)

OTOH... I quite love the fact that I can talk to my new Android phone... Speak text messages, use the Calendar, call folks, all hands free. and works very very well... a little cumbersome in some ways but the voice recognition on my phone is terrific.. . and now though I have seen a bit of the new Apple offering Siri on the iPhone.. Amazing... getting to the Star Trek scenario of simply talking to the computer in natural language ... unless Android steps up ... next phone will be an iPhone..

I just purchased three books last night on IndigoChapters.ca :O).. I prefer to see the vegetables and other produce I purchase in 3D :O) I need to try on my clothes before buying,.. many things bought online are bought after folks have gone to stores and tried them out :O) Then again I bought my son two pair of racing skis (GS and SL) online at huge savings this summer... but that was easy... same brand he has now, just that he has grown a lot ;o)
