I watched that exchange with Cain and it was clear he was confused by the complexity. That complexity was not very complex, so imagine if he has to ponder the red button, with those mental abilities. But that is the norm for the right wing.

Only Huntsman and Romney seem intellectually capable of those sorts of intellectual gymnastic and Romney is a whore and Huntsman is something I have never encountered.

I think Cain doesn't really believe he can be president or will be president, which frees him to take contradictory positions and generally say anything he feels like at the time! The right wingnut electorate see this as a refreshing genuineness and honesty, and the contradictory positions as reflecting their own confusion!

Cain is right, he'll never be president. He hasn't even built any sort of campaign machinery, isn't raising any big bucks from the deep pocket usual (R) suspects, who also don't see him as president.

So, in the meantime, let's enjoy the Herman Cain show, probably soon to be an actual show on Fox "News"! If nothing else, his motivational speaking fees are going WAY up!
