No surround sound for me. I've set them up for other people. It's too much hassle unless you go wireless, then there's the power issues.

My home sound system consists of 2 iMacs, 2 Apple TVs and 2 52" HD LCD TVs. For sound, I use Altec Lansing. Not the current garbage, but what they were making in the late 90's, if I've got the time period right. 1 computer and 1 TV each has an ACS621. The main TV has the FX6021 with the stereo speakers on sticks. These are 2x1 channel/sub jobs. Not extreme high quality, but totally adequate to my 63 year old ears with their built in noise from tinnitus.

The beauty of the setup lies with iTune's ability to select the output device or devices, played from the computer. I can fill the house with sound at each computer and TV at independent volume levels. Makes me want to PARTY! ... PARTY! ... PARTY! Beer and pu pu platters! Rock n roll! (loudly whistles)
