I work hard on trying to figure out how to make my point regarding edgy issues without offending people. I know I could do a better job and I work on it.

At the same time, I have always recognized certain things cannot be put forth without pissing people off big time and yet are definately correct to put out. The example I have had in my minds eye for almost half a century is a mental image of my living in the south in the 40' or 50's in the middle of the hard racism as a white liberal, who will not stand for any racism whatsoever.

IMO, in those days the corrrect thing for any white person to do was keep the racists pissed off all the time. Not stand for it. I would have never kept my mouth shut or gone along with them because by doing so greatly hurt the African American who was being tortured by racism.

I have always wondered, would there have been, is there a better way, to deal with the racists than direct confrontation. To this day I see none. To soft pedal racism was to sacrifice the African American who, as mentioned, was being tortured by racism.

And corallary to that was my observation as a young man of the venal nature of the Republican party (right wing) and I have spoken out about that my whole life. In the 60's Time was the Republican magazine and Henry Luce lied constantly about the Viet Nam war and other liberal ideas and the counter culture. Newsweek was more liberal, so I mostly only read Newsweek.
