Kitty Litter is just a joke that was hung on me on this thread. The mine I manage produces perlite. Perlite is a volcanic glass with some water of crystalization. When it is heated, it expands (pops) like pop corn. It is silicon dioxide. It is mainly used in suspended ceiling tiles and potting soil. We produce over 200,000 tons per year. We do ship quite a bit to Canada to Sungro and WR Grace. They put it in their potting soil mixes because it retains water. The white chunks in potting soil are expanded perlite. I did do a little consulting for a zeolite mine south of here. Zeolite is a big ingredient in kitty litter because it can neutralize amonia.

It was always the same story at the platinum mines I inspected: take all of the sample you want, you won't find anything. You will have to have our special assay in order to find it. They were right. We would split the sample and run one in the New Mexico Bureau of Mines lab and would find nothing. The other would be sent to Bondar Clegg (sp) and they couldn't find anything either. At any rate they would work at it for a couple of years and eventually go out of business with creditors and the state attorney general hot on their tails.

Any way, I have said all of this on this thread before, about 20,000 post ago. But remember, IPM is different, or so I have been told. This does not mean that I think IPM is a scam. It might also be possible that IPM is being scammed. I have seen that before also.
