What this press release didn't say was that Ascend had to discount 85% of list price to win this deal. It was a 3 way fight between Ascend, 3Com (USR) and Bay Networks. Every vendor wanted the business. However, only one vendor wanted the business at that price. So much for margins ... Ron, I am not doubting the discount. I was wondering how you know. Glenn

Ascend had to discount 85% - rpm how do you know this? this would be more than margin suffering, this would be paying to do biz, since that type of discount would not cover costs.

Sounds like sour grapes from a competitor that lost a big deal. Ascend's relationship w HiNet is not new. This was first reported months ago. Larry
