The lower-end subs have speaker level outputs, but they only act as a pass-through from an external amp. The signal passes through the sub's crossover, and everything above the subwoofer's range is routed to the speaker outputs. Note that these speaker outputs only work if you connect the sub to your main amp using the speaker-level inputs.
