Every major nation in history that has created deficits and turned to debasement of their currency to solve it, faced decline as a result. Remember Rome? Remember the German Weimar Republic? The UK? It's the same everywhere. Debasement leads to decline.

I think most people just don't have a sense of the macro history of economies, nor do they have common sense. If you spend more than you earn, you will get yourself in trouble. Borrowing too much and debasing your currency are just short term fixes. In fact, over time, they serve as amplifiers in the volatility of the economy. Not good.
