<<Yes, obsessively posting on these boards was not helpful but hurtful, imo, because this is SI and not Obama's chamber where he gets advised. We have extreme R wingers lurking here and I felt it was 1) dispiriting us Ds and 2)emboldening them.>>

To think we did not need the conversation was dead wrong. Everyone did not feel Obama needed to fight or that he needed to make a sharp left turn. In fact few felt he needed to make a sharp left turn. Mostly what I heard was that we are a centrist nation.

And the above doesn't even make sense. It was not the advice Obama was getting from his inner chamber that forced him to fight and move left, in fact they were the ones gving him the wrong advice!; it was the congressional black caucus and liberals yelling at him like here on SI. That was the whole point! Good lord.

If it could have been done by his inner circle do you really believe the congressional black caucus would have gone public??? It was pressure from the outside, not from the inside. And the right wing doesn't matter one way or the other.

Maybe you don't understand what democracy is. Those kids are in the streets because Obama's innner circle gave him terrible advice. Try reading Ron Suskinds book if you want to know the truth.
