You get what you put in too though.. the example of my dad and all those civil engineers in the 50s supports your view.. My dad went into the family biz and ended up designing all kinds of weird and wonderful food manufacturing machines.. they were ground breakers :O) many many of his buddies ended up as draughtsmen ... it should be less about the marks and more about the experience... I always looked/look at my kids' marks (elementary through high school) last... the commentary was my always first stop.. looking for initiative, leadership, outside the box thinking.. the real skills that get you ahead... if you are on the ball you know what to expect marks wise from the kids very early on.. they are really a small part of the picture..
