Mephisto, maybe I'm the insensitive one here, but I don't think you really hurt those guys' feelings. My ears are totally plugged up and my brain is working at about 5 percent though. I'm sure they will pipe up and tell me if I'm wrong.

Some of them are larger?? I don't think I know what you mean. Some of their egos? Hearts? Minds?

We do have frosts in San Francisco, but only during really cold winters--not every year. And very occasionally, once every fifteen or twenty years, it snows here. Boy, was my cat freaked out when she experienced snow for the first time!!!! She was slipping and sliding!!

Did you tell me yet what you are doing for Thanksgiving? Would you like to post one of your very favorite holiday recipes here?

Hi Mephisto,

What is a camellia? Do they sometimes grow larger than 3 feet? I have something in my backyard that is about 12-15 feet tall, with blooms that look a little like large carnations, and oval shaped leaves. I just bought my house in July (in the SF Bay area), and this shrub/tree just started blooming earlier this month.

Are you in the New York area? It would certainly be late for a frost there.
