Let me ask you a question. You are a pretty hard core conservative as I recall are you not? Are you not defending the conservative philosophy of no universal health care.

What would you recommend we provide universal health care or do you not beleive in it? . How do you like medicare and Obamacare? Social security?

There are plenty of people who would make fine doctors who cannot get in med school. And the statistic you quote that 15% drop out first year is not a logical argument that everyone else in the country is not qualified.

How many docs do I know? I wrote the first state plan for a comprehensive emergency medical services (EMS) system in our state under PL 93-154, established the first state office and EMS districts and was the first state director of EMS in our state. So I know a few.

I also wrote the first State plan for a comprehensive alcoholism and drug abuse program in our state and was the state director of that state office.

My last job with the state was coordinating the health and social services response for the governor's office for the Valdez oil spill.

I went and read t his one because it is the NYT.
nytimes.com

This was more of a statement of facts. I think that these doctors are leaving Medicare because they have a choice. There are some people willing to pay more and so be it. But the patients also need to have a choice. Having "no medical care/insurance" does not fall in the choice category since it is being forced on them. so they need to have access to healthcare choices that Obamacare provides for all. And yes, like police protection, like the USPS, like the public defender in a court, the healthcare is similar. Now there are those who need extra protection and they can go and hire a private security unit for bodyguards etc. Similarly in healthcare. You have doctors whose rates are high and people are free to go to them for a better healthcare such as seeking immediate appointments, appointments on their days off such as Saturday and Sunday etc.

It is like this. We have a BART rail system in the SF Bay area. I don't ride the system since I prefer a more convenient personal travel system, my car. I don't mind paying parking fees, bridge tolls etc. which I do not have to pay if I ride the BART train. But every year when I see my property tax bill I am taxed for the BRAT system.
