Banned? no.. Heavily regulated to prevent a "tragedy of the commons" scenario? Yes.

I do NOT believe that "every shark is sacred". But when we're engaging in wholesale slaughter, and wasting 99% of the carcass in order to get ONLY the gelatinous fins, strikes me as less than defensible.

But primarily, my main concern is how it will impact other marine species, who will then become vulnerable to excess predation by sub-Apex predators normally kept in check by their larger brethren (hammerheads, Tiger, and GW, sharks).

It took Americans a lot time to learn the lesson of conservation of natural resources, and we still have a long way to go.

Why must the Chinese follow that same path?
