<<This is why I don't like to debate subjects where people cling to their beliefs with the fervor of religion. It's not really a rational debate. This country is becoming anti-science and now anti-mathematics. We're all becoming a bunch of luddites. No wonder we're in deep shit.

mindmeld, if the congressional budget office (I think that is where it came from) says social security is good for 26 years as is, and 75 years if they lift the cap (which is what they should do), why do you keep talking about taking in $10 and paying out $100?

75 years is enough dude. We will be run by robots in 75 years-g.

Honestly, though. Do you really believe that any system that let's participants pay in $10, but receive $100 in return is something that is sustainable, especially when the later generations are smaller in size than the current retiring generation? It is simply mathematically impossible. I find it hilarious that the folks in this country are living in such a fantasy land that now they are even trying to defy the laws of mathematics. It's like having a debate about evolution with Creationists who believe the earth is 10,000 years old, despite me pointing out the dinosaur bones we've found that are much older than that.

Do you know that many people pay into the SS fund for years and never get a red cent because they die before they turn 70? Increase the contributions if you think the fund will go broke but don't take it away. Its the only safety net we have in this country.
