Allen, welcome back. I had assumed that you must be in Vegas/Comdex and was wondering if you were the block seller yesterday, having to settle your tab at the black jack tables.

"This reminds me of what someone reportedly said about the weather in Kenya. .........Oh no, not another $#@&** beautiful day!"

Did I tell you I live in San Diego? We have exactly the same "problem".

Back to WIND, this service revenue is certainly no surprise, given the fact that INTS reported similar gains. This seems to be a trend in many businesses. IBM also had big gains in this component in the last yr or so, helping them offset the declining mainframe business.

It seems to me that this is very important for future growth. Isn't each service contract like placing a team of S&M representatives within a customer's organization, selling them products while getting pay for it in the mean time? Isn't each service contract like placing an R&D team in the field, looking for applications, again, while being paid at the same time?

I am still puzzled by WIND's price action and wonder who is doing what. On days like yesterday, the bid/ask spread was about $1. On other days, it may be the more normal 1/8 to 1/4.

Have you been following the developments in Asia? It may not have anything to do with WIND but I think it is going to be negative for the market.

Ramsey

> zero-coupon 30-year tax-free Treasury bond yielding a compound 50% per annum.

No doubt a slip due to enthusiasm, but there is a world of difference between growing 50% pa and yielding 50% pa. Not to mention that 30 years of either is certainly not guaranteed.
