I think the thesis we must understand cold is the power of education. It is not smart/dumb, it is educated and not educated. Provide free pre school day care, for those moms in the ghettos and watch things change!!

We can change that trend. A lot of our problem is the anti intellectual bullshit of too many people. I saw how the community and state colleges of California saved thousands of kids. Most of my friends were from the working town of Richmond California. Many/,most maybe, of us made it out paying our own way because we could in those days. Pumping gas working in hamburger stands. African Americans had it much harder even in California. Not sure if I would have made it out if I had been black.

My brother only made it to the 8th grade (dyslexia), but my cousin became a world famous PHD Entemologist they called spider man. We mostly all made it eventually. It iust takes critical mass lerning point, to a point of knowing how to learn and wanting it.

Interestingly, I always hung out with a lot of Jews? Anyway, most of them hated college as their culture forced them to work so hard. But I noticed they all used what they learned to live by.

If families had to raise the out of wedlock babies instead of the welfare state the moral stigma and the two parent family of the 50's would return.
