There are steps ASND could be taking to boost its share price, particularly now that momentum is in its favor. The absence of these steps suggests to me that an acquisition could be in the works:

1. The company has about $550MM cash and cash equivalents. It could announce a plan to buyback 5% to over 10% of the company's stock. (Even if it announced such a buyback, it would not have to buy the shares if market conditions did not warrant same.) Maverick was the first to note that ASND could do this, but opted not to.

2. The company could be prompting analysts to upgrade earnings estimates based upon expectations for the 4Q. Instead, it seems to be holding matters close to the vest.
