Yes, they were. I find it disconcerting that there are a bunch of Americans now that say the Founding Fathers lived in a different time and that we shouldn't pay too much attention to what they say, nor what the Constitution says.

I'd say, our problems now are because we've moved away from the principles that the Founding Fathers clung to.
