I think it's time humanity accepted that, as far as our future is concerned, we ARE God. We affect the Earth on a God-like scale. Each individual industrialized human commands energy and extracts resources kings of old could only dream of. Every human on Earth wants to become an industrialized human, and it's now possible for them. It's up to US to save ourselves from ourselves. Job one is controlling our numbers. We'd never let the deer population get to seven billion, and we're orders of magnitude more destructive, rapacious animals than deer.
