The liberals, IMO, usually did the right thing and voted the right way, unless it was going to cost them. And I was disappointed in how many of my liberal freinds, knowing better, got caught up in materialism status and power. But now I have resolved it to a large degree in my own mind as just being the human condition. But I can say in all honesty, I did better than most and really tried hard to stay with my hippie principles. My kids are proud of me. I held some pretty high positions in government, but I could only get so far as I was always seen as a loose cannon. And I only got the jobs because I could do them better than anyone else they could find, and so they appointed me, but with great nervousness-lol.
