I also think corporal punishment in schools was a good thing and frankly, I've never discussed it with anyone who experienced it who doesn't also think it was a good thing. The reality is that discipline in schools is a huge problem today and we would be better off if we still had it. While it may not have altered the course of history, at least people who attended school were not disrupting others who wanted to get something out of it.
