More mouth flapping in Cannes, I think, than in Athens.

11/18/11 Contest Update
Am back from honeymooning in NYC. Judging by the crowd at Mario Batali’s Babbo, the bankers had quickly forgiven Batali for comparing them to Hitler and Stalin a week earlier. Who was it that said: “It’s the pasta, stupid!”?
Among NYC’s other highlights, the Cattelan exhibit at the Guggenheim is over the top (or, more literally, hung from the top). If you’re visiting NYC before the exhibit closes (1/22/12) and want a mind-blowing experience, check it out.
And, as always, the market was good for a few thrills.
At Friday’s close, the NBI was down -1.23% YTD (vs. up 2.77% YTD two weeks ago) and the Contest median was down -9.49% YTD (vs. down -.85% YTD two weeks ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was down -3.03% YTD (vs. up 1.25% YTD two weeks ago).
JIBAC’s portfolio (up 51.88% YTD) remains our leader, with MCBIO’s portfolio (up 38.51% YTD) moving into second place and ROCKY’s’s portfolio (up 34.28% YTD) falling back to third place.
At Friday's close, just 10 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, while the same 10 were beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the prior two weeks (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Portfolio adjustments: None
Have a wonderful weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
