I agree given the present numbers but, as we all know, this stuff is extremely unpredictable. It's very hard to see what it will all look like next spring or summer, once it's clear just who the Rep nominee is. With Europe as volatile as it is, lots of stuff gets flying around in the air and folk get hit with the strangest things.

So, while I'm opposed to give backs on SS and medicare and much prefer dropping the cap on the taxable income amount, I don't see small cuts doing too much political harm. Bad for the country, but I'm not certain they represent a serious impediment to his reelection.

"It's the economy, stupid." That is still true today. The economy is on a slow crawl upwards. I predict it will receive a boost from the consumer spending in this festive quarter.

I think there is something messed u p in the Deptt. of Labor which puts out the monthly jobless numbers. I didn't believe when they reported that 0 jobs were added in August. Today they corrected the report to say that 130,000 were added during that month instead. I am noticing stores opening up in the malls, albeit at a slow pace. I am seeing movement of goods by rail starting to pick up.

And also notice that his personal popularity is inching up with every intransigent move of the Republicans in Congress. So if AARP wants their benefits to remain intact, they stand ready to come out and vote against the Republicans and nit against Obama. Remember that AARP ad, 50 million strong.
