Calling it a "think tank" doesn't mean it thinks: < the financial crisis might mean governments are not paying enough attention to the long term, said Daniel Schwanen, an economist at Canada's Center for International Governance Innovation, a think tank.

"Where is the employment agenda? Where is the growth agenda?" he said. "We've been sidetracked by the emergency debt issues."

They think they think.

What he has failed to think is that their long-term thinking about how to build a global communist rob the rich Utopia has led them to the short term crisis which is a long term problem. Their thinking has caused the problem which stops them thinking about what they thought they were thinking.

The USSR and Fidel Castro and Chairman Mao thought they were building a paradise too but they ended up in short term poverty.

Here is some thinking for him - forget the growth agenda and the employment agenda and focus on the emergency debt issues and paradoxically the growth and employment will look after themselves. Abrogate the state debt - creditors should not lend to collectivists who claim to be borrowing on behalf of other people. Sell Tradable Citizenships. Repeal a whole lot of kleptocratic laws. Tell hordes of government "workers" to get real jobs making souvlaki for tourists and new citizens. Close the "growth and employment" departments for example. If people want to do something useful, they will find something useful to do for somebody. It doesn't take a government department.

In case Daniel didn't know, the USSR tried what he says. It lasted for several decades with carnage on a grand scale.

As for your theory about "natural size" - that's a bung theory based on the false idea that people are all the same. "Smart Fraction Theory" defines natural size as in GDP per person. To the extent that people adopt kleptocratic rob the rich authoritarianism they will be poorer than that natural size.
