Corizine is just not rich, but he is also very powerful due to his political connections. Bernie Madoff is not. So justice moved swiftly against Madoff. But Corizine's story has been different. Is it because he is former GS and the ring they have created?

Not quite accurate. The attempt to get a serious investigation of Madoff was at least a decade long, if not longer. He had more than a little clout at the SEC. So I hardly think the Madoff bit went quickly. As for Corzine, what I've seen to date, is from the NYTimes articles. They suggest he was indeed able to fend off regulators even with a very thin lobbying crew in DC. Corzine was a force for the reasons you mentioned. But it didn't save him at MFGlobal nor will it save his reputation, even if he avoids criminal charges. And the end looks to have come fairly swiftly. Unless there's stuff we haven't seen yet.

Let me say again, I'm not defending Corzine. But this nonsense that people are guilty until they prove their innocence needs to be argued against. Vehemently. As epicure points out, it's a part of a rather long Anglo Saxon legal tradition. (If I didn't get that right, someone will correct it. Hopefully.)

I realize that these exchanges have been hollow resulting in the hurling of personal insults. I am not interested in that.

If you are accusing me of personal attacks, please point to the sentences/paragraphs in which I've done so. And I'll apologize. I've tried to make statements specific to your arguments and I've labeled the arguments, not you. That's not a personal attack. Rather a charge about the argument. Smart people can make silly arguments. Just read any George Will column.
