When I was in school in the 80's I had crappy grad school teachers who couldn't teach for shit because the profs didn't want to teach. I had the world's worst calculus teacher for the first semester of calculus. Then i got a professor who actually liked to teach, and I found out I actually liked the subject. Teachers make a difference. I understand that universities need the prestige of publishing, but it's nice if they have teachers who can teach, too.
