"If you believe they do have a purpose and focus, please enlighten us with it. What do they hope to accomplish? What are their goals? What are their demands, and of whom?"

This seems like a good idea for a start...

I think they are asking for public recognition that the government of the United States, and specifically the democratic form of government and the kind of society in which we thought we lived, is being systematically destroyed and dismantled to serve the interests of the super-rich -- the super-rich who outright own the Republican party and have a rent-to-own arrangement with the Democrats. The OWS people are saying they have had 'enough' of the rampant corruption of democratic system of government in the United States. Their message resonates with what so many tens of millions of Americans -- and perhaps hundreds of millions --feel in their gut. America -- the values, ideals and institutions -- have been bought, raped and butchered. Now they want it to stop. America is waking up to the possibility that the only people who make any sense right now are the people in cities all around America who are doing what only months again would have seemed crazy -- they are standing up and saying 'we want our country back-- the one that believes in freedom and justice for all, not the one that sells us out at every opportunity'.

I think you missed the point of my post, which was that the occupiers are disorganized and without purpose and focus.

often, while i'm hanging out at a occupy site, someone will wander by and ask why i'm there. where to begin? there are short answers and there are long answers. there are simple answers and there are very complex answers. but there is no one answer.

an occupy site is a place where people go to talk, to share ideas and concerns. it's a place where you can walk up to anyone and engage in a conversation, because, by their very presence, they are open to dialogue without filters. we are all concerned.

it's about the the journey, not the destination. we have to retake and rebuild our country. this is our chance. if we don't take it, we (and our children and grandchildren) will lose.

the occupy movement does not lack organization and purpose. it only lacks you...
