We finally have power back - Monday afternoon, we've been out since 2 saturdays ago - 9 days. We used wood stove for heat and to warm up water, outdoor gas grill for cooking, bottled water for drinking and stored water for flushing. and listened to radio instead of tv. Chainsaw came in handy to clear blocked driveway. Gas stations were closed for several days as they too lacked power. Driving was like a video game with blocked trees and downed wires acting as obstacles. It was inconvenient but in many ways it brought back a simpler time and created a wonderful sense of community as people banded togethet to help one another.
