<My question is how can Cyrix use the 'rights' to manufacture Pentium II >

Mohan, the author of that article was very sloppy with the facts. Cyrix is not claiming the rights to the PentiumII, just the rights to use the Slot 1 bus. Intel agrees there is a cross licencing agreement, but has not stated anything definate about how that affects Slot1.

Mohan - Re: " Could Intel be so naive to sign corss licensing agreement with a company without anticipating this sort of thing, that is mergers and acquisitions etc?????"

Yes, yes, yes!

Intel gave away the store about 12 to 15 years ago - before they had the Golden Goose in their pocket.

Now, almost anybody has a valid claim to the Golden Eggs from this goose.
