Steve: Hi. A friend of mine, and myself were wondering if you could answer a question? We were wondering how long do we have to wait for a transfer of a portfolio from our current broker over to you, for example?

And also, a question re/margin. I read something here recently, but maybe I'm just dense. Let's say I have 10k in cash in my acct. Does that give me 20 k "buying power" w/ margin? And if I had 5k cash, and 10k stock (marginable) in my acct, for example . . . would I have 15k of "buying power"? (in other words only 50% on the stock, and double the cash?)

And if I were to come out flat ea day . . . bot & sold the 10 k worth of stock (from my 10k in cash in an acct) in a day .. . . do I have wait 3 days for the transactions to "clear" to be able to trade again, if I see something interesting to invest in.

Sorry for the dumb questions, but . . .

Thanks
Jaytee

Steve,

Thanks for your thoughtful reply to my BOSCF question. Makes me realize that watching the ticker can get you into trouble sometimes. I guess when you see inbalances such as this that should move the price and don't, there's no way to predict whether the stock price will eventually give way or not. Maybe the price will actually go up if no one is willing to sell any more and the MM is still short covering.

I just wondered if an MM wants to buy a lot of stock and the public is only selling and not buying (no trades at the ask like yesterday in BOSCF) why doesn't he drop his bid and buy cheaper? He might actually attract more sellers that way.
