While we're on the topic, will someone please explain to me if it is even realistic to have a FULLY automated tool. Jeff, TED, tech?

Anyone?

I remember a certain example, which may apply more to expansion, of a problem with FULL automation. Ben, a programmer in the seventies, is friends with Jerry (who loves ice cream). He decides to label, without proper documentation (REM lines, etc.), all date fields as "JERRY." Sadly enough, Ben has now passed, leaving behind millions of lines of code with date fields named "JERRY."

How does a program know that JERRY is a date field. Without human interaction, is this possible?

Not trying to be argumentative, just looking for answers. Thanks in advance for any contributions.
